CONTRACTED BUS SERVICE

It shall be the policy of the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board to require all replacement buses, at the time they are acquired by the owner, to be ten (10) or less model years old for veteran owners/operators and school districts, and five (5) or less model years old for newly hired owners/operators.  The number of years shall be reckoned from the date of introduction of the model year.  In addition, any tenured, non-tenured, or new bus operator may be allowed to purchase, with prior approval, a school bus that has mileage not exceeding 100,000 miles and meets all state and local requirements, and has been approved by the Supervisor of Transportation.  Any bus used within the School District shall be inspected by August 1st and January 31st by qualified personnel.

All used buses purchased shall be subjected to an extensive mechanical inspection.  The specifications of the inspection and the inspection stations will be determined by the staff. This mechanical inspection is to be at the expense of the bus operator.
