SALARY DEDUCTIONS

The West Baton Rouge Parish School Board maintains that salary deductions which are considered statutory, including federal income tax, state income tax, retirement, etc., shall be deducted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. 

Any voluntary deductions desired by employees may be authorized by the Superintendent or the Board, when such action is determined to be in the best interest of the school system.  Said request shall be submitted in writing by the employee.  The employee shall also sign a form authorizing said salary deduction and verifying knowledge of all regulations governing salary deductions.  The Board or the Superintendent does not assume any liability for compliance with governing requirements and regulations.

The Board is only responsible for making approved salary deductions as requested in writing by any employee of the Board.  Under no circumstances shall special arrangements be made as to the commencement or transaction of salary deductions.

For each type of insurance policy approved by the Board for payroll deduction, only one company shall be designated by the Board for such deductions.

PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS

The following payroll deductions have been approved by the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board:

Employee benefits:  State and federal mandated deductions.  State offered health and life insurance and other insurance offerings approved by the School Board.  Cafeteria Plan representatives shall be allowed on the campus during the school day because this is a federally approved income reduction plan.

West Baton Rouge Teachers Federal Credit Union.

Mandates from the courts.

Employee groups with 50 members or numbers equal to 10% of the total number of persons employed.

Qualifying tax sheltering annuity agencies.

* Charitable organizations: United Way, Baton Rouge Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation

* No other charitable organizations shall be allowed to collect money in schools unless a specific Board resolution addressing a specific need of the school community has been approved.
