Port Allen, Louisiana

January 8, 2019

A special meeting of the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board was held this date with the following membership:

Present:           Jason P. Manola, President, Craig Sarradet, Dr. Atley D. Walker,Sr., Ronald P. LeBlanc, Chareeka Grace, Michael A. Maranto, Teri Bergeron

Absent:            Toby Sarradet, Leon Goudeau, G. Alden Chustz,Jr.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the members of the board.

Whereupon, the following resolution was offered by Mr. LeBlanc and seconded by Dr. Walker:

Be It Resolved, That approval of the minutes of the regular board meeting held on December 19, 2018, be deferred.

The above resolution was adopted by the following vote:

Aye:                 Mr. Craig Sarradet, Dr. Walker, Mr. LeBlanc, Ms. Grace, Mr. Maranto, Mrs. Bergeron, Mr. Manola

Nay:                 None

Absent:            Mr. Toby Sarradet, Mr. Leon Goudeau, Mr. G. Alden Chustz, Jr.

The next item was the Superintendent’s report: Resolutions of Condolences for the families of Mrs. Cassie Sheehan, teacher at Port Allen Elementary School, and Mrs. Ola Mae Moore, retired Special Education teacher.

Whereupon, the following resolutions of Condolences were offered by Mr. Craig Sarradet and seconded by Mr. Maranto:

Be It Resolved, That the members of the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board do hereby extend to the family of Mrs. Cassie Sheehan, teacher at Port Allen Elementary School, their feelings of sincere appreciation for the years of dedicated service to the students or Port Allen Elementary School rendered by Mrs. Cassie Sheehan, and

Be It Further Resolved, That the members of the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board do hereby express their sincere sympathy and condolences to the family of Mrs. Cassie Sheehan.

Be It Resolved, That the members of the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board do hereby extend to the family of Mrs. Ola Mae Moore, retired Special Education teacher, their feelings of sincere appreciation for the years of dedicated service to the students of the West Baton Rouge Parish School System rendered by Mrs. Ola Mae Moore, and

Be It Further Resolved, That the members of the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board do hereby express their sincere sympathy and condolences to the family of Mrs. Ola Mae Moore.

The above resolution was adopted by the following vote:

Aye:                 Mr. Craig Sarradet, Dr. Walker, Mr. LeBlanc, Ms. Grace, Mr. Maranto, Mrs. Bergeron, Mr. Manola

Nay:                 None

Absent:             Mr. Toby Sarradet, Mr. Goudeau, Mr. Chustz

The next item was presentation of the following item on the Consent Agenda:

1. Consideration of  request that the West Baton Rouge School Board accept the low Base Bid in the amount of $35,214,000 and Alternate #1 in the amount of $220,000 and Alternate #3 in the amount of $770,000 submitted by Milton J. Womack Inc. for the Brusly High School-NEW SCHOOL PROJECT as recommended by Earl Kern, Program Manager.  Total amount of Base Bid and Alternates #1 and #3 = $36,204,000

The Chairman declared the floor open for public comment.

Whereupon, the following resolution was offered by Mrs. Bergeron and seconded by Mr. Craig Sarradet:

Be It Resolved, That the board does hereby accept the low Base Bid in the amount of $35,214,000 and Alternate #1 in the amount of $220,000 and Alternate #3 in the amount of $770,000 submitted by Milton J. There being no further business to come before the board, the following resolution was offered by Dr. Walker and seconded by Mr. Craig Sarradet:

Be It Resolved, That the meeting be adjourned.
